Materials, Processes & Art of the Accident.

With this project brief, I was to experiment and explore how materials and processes could be used in unconventional ways  to create serendipity.

Many options were avaliable regarding materials and processes however I  chose to experiment what could be described by some as a kind of visual alchemy.

I had intially experimented with this briefly at college but felt curious to explore this further. (this time using different chemcials and substances)

It was very interesting to see how particular susbtances react with each other – especially engine oil and water. The beauty I found with this was that no image was ever the same; they were all similar regarding teh substances but all yielded different visual results.

When I view these abstract  images, one cannot help think  of space and the solar systems. The various shapes, mixture of colour have the visual appreance of a nebula or some other phenomenon.

They  remind me of 2001 : A Space Odyssey by Stanley Kubrick which is certainly not a bad thing!

Upon selecting four of my favourite results and printing them onto gloss A2 photographic paper, I proceeded to mount them onto a layer foam board and mountboard.

A day trip to London

Due to recent university submissions and dreaded deadlines, it has been a rather long time since my last post.

At the begining of this month, I visited galleries in London to view some photography and art exhibitons. These included “Champagne Life” and “Revealations: New Work by Aidan” at the Saatchi Gallery, Saul Leiters “Saul Leiter” exhibiton and the “Easter Rising 1916 by Sean Sexton” at the Photographers Gallery.

The day was very enjoyable and interesting in viewing a variety of art and design installations. IMG_7173IMG_7183IMG_7185IMG_7208IMG_7209IMG_7212IMG_7237IMG_7253IMG_7254
